Can I use Spam Skip if you don't host my mail?

The Spam Skip service can be used with email accounts that are not hosted by Ambit New Media or one of its partners.

In order to deliver mail to myname@mycompany.com, the sending mail server will look up the mail server that handles mail for the domain mycompany.com. Once it has found the address of the mail server, it will send its message.

The address of the recipient mail server is held in an "MX record" in the domain's setup. If we change that MX record to point to Spam Skip, your mail will start flowing to Spam Skip for filtering. We then set up your account in Spam Skip so that the filtered mail is sent on to the your mail server (i.e. to the server in the original MX record).

This does mean that you, your ISP or Ambit New Media will have to be able to modify the name server entry for your domain. We may need to charge a setup fee (£25 + VAT) in order to do this.
